Snacks. Beautiful snacks. It is so hard to resist them isn’t it? The worse thing for me is chocolate… or cake. mmmm cake. Where was I?! oh yes SNACKS ARE BAD.
Well, actually they aren’t bad. Coupled with three balanced meals you can actually have two snacks a day without the guilt factor. Obviously the best way to be healthier is to avoid snacks that are high in saturated fat and sugar. (Although aero is the best chocolate to eat because it’s lighter – I didn’t just tell you that!). I try not to make myself feel too guilty if I have a naughty snack every once in a while, with a balanced diet even a slice of cake can be good for you! Here’s a few of my favourite healthy snacks anyway, maybe they’ll inspire you to swap the cake for a carrot every once in a while.
- Raisins, big and juicy. Also free of flavourings. Nice little sweet snack.
- Pine nuts, full of polyunsaturated fat, which stimulates hunger supressing hormones. Also quite sweet. I usually have about 30g. contains vitamins B1,2,3 and E as well as things like magnesium and zinc.
- Sunbites: Healthier crisps as they contain 67% wholegrain and less saturated fat.
- Fruit: Everyone knows fruit is good for you, and personally I love it raw or in smoothies. There is also millions of recipes that are healthy and contain fruit – I plan to post a few on here soon!
